The Lions Club of Flinders District (Flinders Lions) fundraising strategy for 2025-26 reflects the Australian Lions Wellbeing Foundation’s Nationwide campaign, focused on the Lions International Service Initiative: Mental Health and Wellbeing.
It also accords with Mornington Peninsula Shire’s Public Health and Wellbeing Plan 2025-29; the aim of which is to set Council’s strategic direction for protecting and promoting the health and wellbeing of the community.
Funds raised will be directed to various local school-based projects with the aim to:
support those children and young people who are highly disengaged and marginalised through complicated family circumstances to remain at school and return to mainstream programs.
assist with the provision of pathways to re-engage young people in learning through structured Outreach programs.
support services for students and families, as well as for the schools themselves, to help relieve the significant well-being and mental health challenges some families are facing.
Optimising educational opportunities for all children is the key to improved well-being.
Funds raised from our fundraising initiatives will be directed to two very worthy school-focused projects, which have been identified and fit the Wellbeing and Community Health brief perfectly.
The Young Elevate Program has a primary school focus, building on the success of The Mornington Peninsula Foundation’s Elevate program with Westernport Secondary College. The program will focus on years 3-6 children who have had low attendance and are on the path to leaving school early. The senior Elevate Program has had great outcomes with 94% of children now finishing school (compared to 50% previously).
The Second project is to further assist Western Port Community Centre with their Family Support Program. The caseworker provides support to 5 local schools, working with both the young people and their parents and caregivers who may be experiencing personal crises and mental health issues.
